It’s the firm’s first foray into the sporting arena and as such these true wireless earbuds are designed to ‘improve performance though music’. To this end, Christoffer Poulsen, VP of product management says the E8 Sport provide the three things that the target audience look for: “a waterproof and customizable design that brings comfort to long runs and workouts, playtime that lasts way beyond the finish line and, most importantly, excellent sound quality.” The IP57 rating means the headphones are fully protected from dust and sweat, plus can be dunked into 1m of fresh water for 30 minutes – handy for cleaning as well as general outdoor protection. Bang & Olufsen has crafted the earbuds with its trademark anodised aluminium ring while a ridged gripped helps you make adjustments with clammy fingers. Also aiding a snug fit is five removable ear tips and three fins. Thanks to touch controls, the Beoplay E8 Sport allows you to easily change tracks, answer phone calls and switch on the Transparency Mode so you can safely hear your surroundings. The E8 Sport come with the latest Bluetooth 5.1 as well as both AAC and aptX codecs meaning they play nicely with both iPhone and Android. You can get the Beoplay E8 Sport in Oxygen Blue or Black when they launch on 9 July. They cost £300 and will be available direct from Bang & Olufsen stores as well as select third-party retailers.
