Requirements
Charge your phone to at least 50% to avoid any interruption. Enable USB Debugging mode on OnePlus 5T. Also, enable OEM unlocking and Advance reboot mode from Developer options. To recognize your phone when connected to a PC, install the latest OnePlus 5T mobile USB drivers. Moreover, unlock the bootloader of the OnePlus 5T before flashing TWRP recovery. Backup contacts, apps, accounts, messages, call logs, and notes etc. for safety.
Steps to install TWRP Recovery on OnePlus 5T:
Step 1: Download ADB drivers. Step 2: Install the downloaded ADB setup file on your PC. Step 3: Download TWRP.img. Step 4: Copy this downloaded TWRP.img file to C:\Program Files\Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder (where you’ve installed the ADB and fastboot). So you’ll see these files in the ADB folder:
Step 5: Using a USB cable, connect your mobile to PC. Step 6: Go to the location C:\Program Files\Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder, hold the Shift button, and right mouse click on a space. You’ll see a list of options from which select Open command window here or Open PowerShell window here option. This will launch a cmd window on your PC.
Step 7: Type the below command in the cmd window and press enter: adb devices As soon as you hit enter, a message saying ‘List of devices attached’ will appear. This will confirm a successful connection between your OnePlus 5T and PC.
Note: If such a thing doesn’t happen, then again install OnePlus USB drivers as well as ADB drivers. Step 8: Next, enter the below command: adb reboot bootloader
This will reboot the OnePlus 5T into fastboot mode as shown below.
Note: Ensure that you’ve unlocked the bootloader of your phone. Step 9: To confirm whether fastboot is functional or not, enter the following command: fastboot devices
Some random numbers will confirm that fastboot is functional. Step 10: Let’s start the OnePlus 5T TWRP recovery flashing process. For that, enter the below command: fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
