This is up to 400Mbps faster than its Ultrafast Plus service that offers average download speeds of 500Mbps. Gigafast users can expect upload speeds of 90Mbps on average, but up to around 115Mbps at the most. The new package is available wherever FTTP – Fibre To The Property – already exists. It uses the Openreach network, the same used by BT and others, which currently serves around 6.5 million homes in the UK, which is about 24% of households. More homes are being connected all the time, with the aim of expanding coverage to 25 million homes by the end of 2026. You can enter your postcode on Openreach’s website to get an estimate of when your home will get FTTP. Assuming Gigafast is available to you, signing up will cost you £55 per month for the first 18 months, and £60 per month after that. There’s a one-off £19.95 set up charge. Included in the package is Sky’s latest Broadband Hub and for an extra £5 per month Broadband Boost gives a guarantee of minimum Wi-Fi speeds in every room of your home, free engineer visits and daily line checks. It doesn’t include any Sky entertainment: you’ll need to add that to your account separately.
